Control Panel Fabrication
EMD has been providing our customers with quality control panels since we began in 1983.
EMD's control panel facility, located in Wichita Falls, Texas, has over 10,000 square feet of environmentally controlled shop and staging space.
EMD has in-house ability to create both phenolic as well as stainless steel tags. We also have custom terminal block labeling equipment to meet any customer directed requirement.
Each panel is fully tested versus the drawings as well as functionally tested. All tests are documented and provided with the panel. As an example, all analog inputs and outputs are certified at 3 points (4mA, 12mA and 20mA) and the raw readings are recorded. This allows our engineers to verify functionality and linearity of each channel so that when the panel is placed in the field, the customer has confidence that the panel has been fully verified for operation.
All communication channels are connected to the appropriate equipment and when the equipment is not available, special simulation software is used. For example, if there is a large VFD which is already onsite and it communicates via Modbus, our engineers will construct a simple Modbus slave to allow the PLC panel communications to be fully verified for both the physical connection as well as the functional addressing.
Detailed photographs of each panel are taken just before shipping allows for a pictorial record for customer review.
Factory Acceptance Testing
EMD encourages all of our customers to be involved in the testing of the panels for factory acceptance. Our ability to simulate different scenarios and signals with the customer at our facility further reduces startup time and makes for a better overall control system.
Our facility has 3 phase 480/240/208 capibility for testing 3 phase control panels, motors and low voltage VFD's.
Our panel shop is certified to construct UL508a panels. Our experience also includes the manufacturing of hazardous area panels such as Class I Div 2 and explosion proof panels.
All panels are professionally handled using forklifts and a full size floating loading dock. All panels are wrapped in stretch wrap and banded before shipping.
